HOME government-austria.at has been launched in order to identify the basic principles of a lasting participatory and democratic information society. The main emphasis we put on the relations between art, culture, science and new information and communication technologies. There are no ministers because this platform does not approve of any personalisation of the various areas of politics. Instead, it is the political correlations that we consider as decisive and which are at most ministerial areas of responsibility. government-austria.at is based upon a future-oriented concept: This Platform is not only a collection of protests against inhuman politics and the governmental participation of right-wing extremism. Above all, it provides a forum for the elaboration and discursive negotiation of constructive suggestions concerning the program and the necessity of a new government of Austria. government-austria.at has collected various materials and documents concerning programmatic ideas for a new-orientation of "another" Austria. In order to facilitate a continuing dialog on the future of Austria a virtual government in exile has been constituted to open up a channel for foreign relations with Europe and the World. All democratic governments, institutions, organizations and individuals that subscribe to a humanistic perspective and democratic cultural diversification are invited to establish contacts with the new government-austria.at

OPINION. Statements of representatives of the Austrian cultural and intellectual life expressing their requests to make of a virtual government. DOCUMENTS. Documents (text, image and sound) dealing with issues and potentials of the "free opposition" as well as with refused programmatic positions and actions of the actual FPÖVP-government. RESOLUTIONS. Various academic, cultural and civil associations state their precise political positions. ART. Artist works which address to the political situation in Austria and give impressions of "another" Austria commissioned by government-austria.at SERVICE. A compilation of relevant links to international partners and to the topics free speech, information society, culture and media politics. ROUNDTABLE. A series of roundtable discussions that bring together political ideas and programmatic options regarding how an emancipatory and culturally diverse information society could be organized. FREEDOM OF SPEECH - ON DEMAND. Documentation of a project working on the incompatibility between market-economy-based pursuit of profit and free media. Alternative journals, free radio stations and initiatives of digital netculture have, regarding to the principles of democracy, an indispensable function. The project reminds the politicians of their responsibility of maintaining and strengthening the respective structures.
